Prime Contractor for a Sewer Pump Station upgrade for the City of City of Chattanooga, TN. The project consist of constructing a new 48’ deep cast in place wet well containing four submersible chopper pumps, construction of new electrical building, new piping and valves for the new pump station, and 520 LF of new 30” ductile iron force main which includes a 200 LF creek crossing through the active Chickamauga Creek. This project presents many challenges for construction which include constructing the new pump between two existing active pump stations which much remain active until the new pump station goes on line. The project also requires the relocation of the existing electrical building in order to maintain power to the existing City of Chattanooga pump station. This project also includes the explosive removal of 1680 CY of rock, piping installations to depths greater than 25’, extensive trench and excavation shoring, demolition of existing pump stations once the new pump station is on line, 8400 SF of Cellar Confinement Paving, by pass pumping, site grading, and landscaping.
RTD plans to self-perform 80% of all the work including all site grading, excavation, demolition, buried piping, above grade piping and valve installation, formwork, concrete, metals installation, equipment installation, final grading, and paving system.
